Meet the Pipecraft Plumbing Team

Jacob Kerns, Owner of Pipecraft Plumbing, and Master Plumber, MP.00600362

With 20 years of experience under his belt, Jacob Kerns, Master Plumber, has built a strong foundation in the plumbing industry. Inspired by his father, who also owned a plumbing company, he’s developed a deep passion for the craft. He’s incredibly proud of the company he’s built and the work of his team. As a plumber and entrepreneur, there’s never a dull day. Jacob finds the most exciting part of his job is tackling new challenges and managing a team that maintains the company’s stellar reputation.

Jacob has seen his fair share of unusual plumbing situations, like the time he found a beer can in a public pool toilet! While all aspects of plumbing has it’s challenges, he particularly enjoys the problem-solving involved in service plumbing and remodels. When he’s not diving into renovations, you can find him riding motorcycles and championing his daughters at karate.

His most trusted tool? His hands, of course! However, if he could put a favorite tool in a time capsule, it would be his Knipex pliers. Like most plumbers, and homeowners, he dreams of a world with plumbing X-ray vision, until then, Jacob relies on his skills and years of experience to get the job done right.

To prevent plumbing problems, his number one piece of advice is to be mindful of what goes down the kitchen drain. If possible, avoid putting solids down the disposal, and always keep an eye out for signs of potential issues like corrosion on pipes and gurgling noises. While DIY projects can be tempting, it’s often best to call a plumber for advice (it doesn’t cost anything to call Pipecraft), especially before starting a big job.

In Denver, the most common plumbing problems associated with older ranch homes often involve galvanized water piping that should be replaced with PEX type A piping. If you own, or are looking to buy an older home, keep an eye on aging water heaters and galvanized pipes, they are common trouble spots. And when you buy a new house, be on the lookout for “Frankepipe,” the term Jacob uses for plumbing systems with multiple materials used by well-intentioned DIY’ers.

Beyond the excellent work that has earned Pipecraft Plumbing the title of “Best of the Best” in Arvada, Westminster, Lakewood, and Wheat Ridge, you can count on Jacob for honesty, integrity, and open communication. He offers a minimum one-year warranty on all work (some jobs offer longer warranties) and promises to keep you informed every step of the way.

Heath Bower

Meet Heath, our go-to plumbing expert!

With over seven years of experience at Pipecraft, Heath is a seasoned pro when it comes to tackling any plumbing issue. If you asked him to pick just one tool to use for the rest of his career, he’d hands down choose his trusty channellocks. When he’s not elbow-deep in pipes, you’ll likely find Heath in his workshop, crafting something new, or spending quality time with his wife. Ever wondered what signs to look for when things go wrong with your plumbing? Heath says to keep an eye out for water where it shouldn’t be – like on the floor, walls, or ceiling. And while DIY projects can be tempting, he’s the first to tell you that plumbing is a job best left to the pros.

Jake Sanchez

Meet Jake, our plumbing problem-solver!

Jake’s got a superpower: he can practically see through walls! Okay, maybe not literally, but his uncanny ability to pinpoint pipe locations behind walls is pretty close. This skill, combined with his knack for visualizing entire plumbing systems, makes him a true master of his craft. Plumbing can be challenging, but Jake’s cool under pressure. He’s learned the importance of staying calm and focused, even when things get tricky. When he’s not wrangling pipes, you’ll find him exploring the great outdoors on his gravel bike or playing piano or bass guitar. Jake keeps a close eye on the latest plumbing trends, but he’s also a firm believer in the old saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” He’s seen firsthand how some well-intentioned updates can cause more problems than they solve.

MonaLisa Kerns

Co-Owner & Business Office Manager, Pipecraft Plumbing

From the heart of healthcare to the depths of plumbing, MonaLisa made a splash ten years ago when she joined the Pipecraft team. She’s the friendly face greeting our clients, and has a treasure trove of plumbing tales, like the time a sweet customer swore someone had “toilet-napped” her tank parts! No worries – MonaLisa and our expert team solved the case.

Dedicated to delivering top-notch service with a smile, she’s your go-to for plumbing peace of mind. From keeping you in the loop to ensuring our techs are safe, MonaLisa’s got your back. She’s the sunshine behind our crew, organizing everything from concerts and backyard barbecues to haunted houses (yes, really!). We enjoy full benefits, no dreaded on-call shifts, and MonaLisa’s famous “Mama Hen” lunches – perks that make Pipecraft Plumbing a home away from home.

“We’re over the moon about Pipecraft’s growth, thanks to our amazing clients and their kind referrals. It’s an honor to be named “Best of the Best” in Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Westminster, and Lakewood – a testament to our team’s dedication.” When she’s not caring for our clients and our team, MonaLisa loves spending time with family and furry friends, supporting the local non-profit Hope Community Connection, and getting lost in a good book or movie.

Trevor Wyscaver

Trevor’s a true problem-solver who believes that anything can be a tool, given the right circumstances.

His motto? Necessity is the mother of invention! When it comes to plumbing red flags, Trevor advises homeowners to watch out for discoloration on walls and ceilings, wet floors, unexpectedly high water bills, or increased humidity. Patience is a virtue, especially in plumbing, according to Trevor. His years of experience have taught him that a calm and steady approach often yields the best results. And while DIY projects can be tempting, Trevor recommends calling a professional if you suspect the job might be more than you can handle.

Plumbing Service, Installation, Repair, and Remodel FAQ

We have upgrades to enhance your workshop, home office, or hobby space. Do you need an eyewash station? 180-degree water for brewing beer? Or a durable utility sink for cleaning brushes, towels, and tools. We can add a floor drain for spills and easier maintenance. Pipecraft Plumbing can help you create a functional and efficient workspace you’ll love, and your friends will envy.

You can tackle minor clogs yourself with a plunger or a drain snake. However, it’s always best to call a professional plumber like Pipecraft Plumbing for anything more complex. We have the expertise and experience to accurately diagnose and fix problems efficiently, preventing further damage that could occur with DIY attempts. We warranty our workmanship and have the right tools and equipment for any plumbing job, ensuring a proper and lasting solution.

Nice! Just remember that outdoor kitchens require specific considerations. Proper drainage is crucial to avoid freezing during Colorado winters. Additionally, we’ll need to use frost-proof hose bibs and insulate exposed pipes. Pipecraft Plumbing can advise you on the most suitable materials and techniques for a durable outdoor plumbing system. Call us!

Inspections identify potential issues, allowing for proactive solutions and avoiding costly surprises during the remodel.

That’s great! If plumbing repairs and remodels make your day, we have a Careers page right here. Consider that as repairs become more complicated, we encourage you to call us. Our team has the training, tools, support, experience, and knowledge to ensure your plumbing repairs and installations meet local building codes and safety standards. Hiring a licensed plumber, like Pipecraft Plumbing, provides peace of mind and protects your investment.

Absolutely! Replacing old, inefficient showerheads and faucets with low-flow models can save water and energy costs in the long run. Upgrading to a tankless water heater, especially if your current one is nearing the end of its lifespan, can also lead to significant energy savings.
